Earth Hour is a worldwide event, that occurs towards the end of March each year, started by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) in 2007, with the aim of helping to unite people in their efforts to save the planet.
During Earth Hour, everyone is encouraged to turn off their lights and all non-essential electric components. Over the years it has seen entire streets, buildings, landmarks, and city skylines go dark to draw public attention to nature loss and the climate crisis.
However, WWF not only want to encourage you to use less electricity for one hour but they also want to remind you to do all kinds of other Earth-friendly practices all year round, such as recycling or installing energy efficient appliances in your home.
Millions of people throughout the world will be turning off lights in their homes and businesses on 27 March – can you do too?
